Have you ever thought of turning your passion into a career? Selling on Etsy provides the opportunity for many looking to set up shop to showcase their products, get found online and make money. I have put together 5 reasons why selling on Etsy is the perfect option.
A little bit about my shop:
I got my first job at 14 working for a family business. I have always loved to work. There is just something that lights me up about meeting new people. Not until I had my first child did I ever imagine staying at home and not working. Even then, I have always been very independent and was always looking for a way to make extra money from home without having to sacrifice time with my kids. I enrolled into online classes at the Academy of Art University and learned the ins-and-outs of graphic design. When I was done, I didn’t exactly know what I was going to do with all my knowledge but somehow ended up on Etsy.
As I looked thru all the awesome Etsy Shops, I couldn’t help but wonder if a little shop would work for me. I took the plunge and Sweet Paper Trail was born.
1. No Technical background needed
Although I come with a background in graphic & web design, you need no previous skill to open up an Etsy Shop. After opening shop, with a few steps your shop will be found on major search engines such as google. You can actually run an Etsy Shop without having a website at all and do well. I do recommend if going this route to be active in social media to promote your items. Blogging however is where most of my Etsy traffic comes from.
2. Work From Anywhere
This is the number one reason I love Etsy. I have the ability to process orders, add listings, view my Shop Stats, and sell in person with a tap as long as there is internet connection. With the Etsy App, I get an alert whenever I have a sale or a question from a customer. The truth, it’s pretty awesome. My husband and I get a kick out of the “cha ching” sound the app has and I secretly celebrate inside every time it goes off. There is nothing like it.
3. No Initial Shop Investment
Selling on Etsy is reasonably priced, especially considering all the perks you have for selling thru them. There is no membership fees or cost to open up a shop. It does cost $0.20 per listing plus a 3.5% of total sale to list an item on Etsy. That’s all! Customers are able to pay using a credit card or paypal and everything is super secure and professional. Even better if you open up shop using this link you will get your first 40 Etsy listings free!
4. Passive Income Opportunity
If you sell digital items, you have the ability to set them automatic so once an item is purchased it emails the client the files. Talk about passive income! Check out my shop as an example… Currently all of the items in my shop are instant downloads.
5. Clients are waiting
Etsy is the best and easiest way for your customers to find you. Etsy has a direct traffic of customers looking for items just like yours every day. Unless you have an established website and social media presence it will prove difficult to establish a shop quickly the way that Etsy does.
If you are still on the edge on selling on Etsy, take this as a sign to jump in and do it. There is nothing to lose. If you decide to open up shop, go ahead and link your shop below, there is nothing more important than supporting each other.
